A Crêperie Is Born (A True Story)
Paris, summer 1988, near Metro Stop Concorde.
The U.S. Ambassador has invited a smattering of foreign diplomats,
a few famous Hollywood actors and an American drummer from
Seattle to the evening party at his expansive back lawn.
Dinner is being served in the Thomas Jefferson dining room.
Crepes and Galettes are on the menu.
The smell of buckwheat and garlic fill the air.
Thomas Jefferson loved crepes. So did Voltaire.
The drummer orders “The Special”, Black Forest Ham, Swiss Cheese, Sauteed Mushrooms, Spinach, a little Black Pepper, and a Scrambled Egg.
It’s delicious.
An idea is born.
